Tung-Wen Margue
Born in Luxembourg in 1959. After studying at the National School of Fine Arts of Paris, Tung-Wen Margue graduated with a degree in Fine Arts from the University Of Sorbonne of Paris I. Even though identifying as a Western artist, Tung-Wen Margue’s work shows a deep understanding of Eastern spiritual imagery. In his works, rigid Western modeling and structure become more relaxed; he controls the soft fluidity and the rhythm of form and color. From a carefree form emerge images of the earth enveloped by poetry. The tranquil “Chinese essence” of his paintings gives us a sense of warmth. This warmth cannot be accomplished merely by living in Beijing for a few months. It comes from his Chinese mother’s early enlightenment, a diffuse ambience of the love, study, practice of Eastern thought and culture that he has carried with him ever since.
Shanqing Jiang
Shanqing Jiang was born in Zhejiang in 1961. Right from childhood he showed a great interest in seal carving and literature. At the age of 22 he became a pupil of the great Master Qian Juntao and specialized in calligraphy, painting and seal carving. He has often been invited to hold solo exhibitions in China and abroad. Many of his paintings have been bought by institutional collectors as well as by private collectors, such as Bill Gates and Daisaku Ikeda. He also attracts attention not only through the articles he writes for Chinese and foreign reviews and magazines, but also as a prose writer, as a poet and as an expert of antique writings on bamboo.
