The Chinese New Year Reception on 12 February 2025 in Luxembourg was a remarkable evening celebrating cultural heritage, economic collaboration, and strengthened ties between China and Luxembourg. Organized by CHINALUX, the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce, and the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Brussels, the event gathered distinguished guests, industry leaders, and government representatives to mark the beginning of the Year of the Snake.
The event was moderated by Ms. Na Shi-Bic, and featured a lineup of esteemed speakers who shared their insights on the growing relationship between China and Luxembourg:
Mr. Fernand Ernster, President of the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce, welcomed attendees and highlighted the importance of continued collaboration between the two nations in business and trade.
Mr. Lex Delles, Minister of the Economy, spoke about the evolving investment landscape between China and Luxembourg. He emphasized not only economic partnerships but also cultural exchanges that enrich both countries. Additionally, he touched upon developments in electric vehicles and public transport, with new Chinese-manufactured EVs and buses set to arrive in Luxembourg.
H.E. Mr. Ning Hua, Chinese Ambassador to Luxembourg, talked about the adaptability and transformation represented by the Year of the Snake. He acknowledged the challenges faced by the global economy and emphasized China’s resilience, noting a 5% economic growth rate—an impressive figure in the current global landscape. He stressed the importance of entrepreneurship and innovation, not only for major financial institutions but also for small businesses and emerging unicorn companies. He praised Luxembourg for its openness and consistency and expressed China’s commitment to creating a stable and reliable business environment for international companies.
Ms. Shirley Yung, Special Representative for Hong Kong Economic and Trade Affairs to the EU, spoke about the competitive edge of Hong Kong as a global financial and business hub, underlining its role in fostering economic growth and international trade.
Ms. Zhu Jun Xie, President of the China-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce, delivered the closing remarks, emphasizing the values that unite both nations and the shared opportunities ahead. She highlighted the importance of cooperation in strengthening ties and creating new avenues for business and cultural exchange between China and Luxembourg.
Beyond insightful speeches, the evening also featured a captivating cultural performance presented by the Confucius Institute and École Wuxing, offering guests a glimpse into traditional Chinese art and music. This was followed by a vibrant networking cocktail, providing an opportunity for attendees to connect, exchange ideas, and explore potential collaborations in a festive and dynamic atmosphere.

欧盟香港经济贸易事务特别代表Shirley Yung女士 介绍了香港作为全球金融和商业中心的竞争优势,并强调其在推动经济增长和国际贸易中的关键作用。
中卢商会主席谢竹君女士 在闭幕致辞中强调了两国共同的价值观及未来的合作机遇。她指出,合作对于加强中卢关系至关重要,同时也为两国企业和文化交流开辟了新的道路。
在精彩的发言之外,招待会还呈现了一场由 孔子学院 和 École Wuxing 带来的精彩舞龙表演,让嘉宾们领略了中国传统艺术和音乐的魅力。随后,现场还举办了社交酒会,宾客们在欢快的氛围中建立联系、交流想法,并探讨潜在的合作机会。
