The Chinese New Year Reception held on 11 February 2026 brought together business leaders, diplomats, and community representatives for an evening celebrating renewal, partnership, and cross-cultural exchange. Jointly organized by the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce, the China-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce, and the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Brussels, the reception highlighted the strong and growing ties linking Luxembourg and China.
Guests were welcomed into a warm and festive atmosphere that reflected the spirit of the Lunar New Year. The reception served as an opportunity at the start of the new lunar calendar to reinforce dialogue and cooperation across regions.
The formal program opened with welcome addresses from distinguished speakers.
Mr. Fernand ERNSTER, President of the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce, emphasized Luxembourg’s role as an open, globally connected economy and underscored the importance of international collaboration in an evolving economic landscape. He highlighted the resilience of Luxembourg–China relations and the value of sustained engagement between business communities.
H.E. Mr. HUA Ning, Chinese Ambassador to Luxembourg, reflected on the significance of the Lunar New Year as a time of renewal, prosperity, and shared hope. He noted the steady development of bilateral relations and encouraged continued cooperation in trade, green finance, innovation, and cultural exchange.
Ms. Fiona LI, Deputy Representative of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office to the European Union, spoke about Hong Kong’s role as a global financial and business hub and as a gateway connecting Mainland China with international markets. She reaffirmed Hong Kong’s commitment to fostering deeper economic and commercial links with Luxembourg and Europe.
Mr. Jacques BORTUZZO, President of the China-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce, concluded the addresses by emphasizing that strong communication and open dialogue are essential to building tangible partnerships. He encouraged people to explore China and deepen mutual understanding, noting that engaging with Chinese history and traveling to the country are valuable ways to foster meaningful dialogue and cultural insight.
The event was moderated by Ms. Na SHI, and we extend our sincere appreciation for her valuable contribution.
The speeches were followed by a cultural performance, which added a vibrant artistic dimension to the reception. The performance offered guests a glimpse into traditional Chinese culture, symbolizing good fortune and harmony for the year ahead and reinforcing the event’s spirit of cultural appreciation alongside economic cooperation.
Participants later gathered for a networking cocktail, where discussions continued in a relaxed setting. Over refreshments, guests exchanged insights, explored collaboration opportunities, and celebrated the Lunar New Year in an atmosphere of optimism and goodwill.
The reception once again demonstrated how cultural celebration can serve as a powerful platform for strengthening business relationships, diplomatic ties, and people-to-people connections between Luxembourg and China.
