This event brought together distinguished guests from both China and Luxembourg, fostering deeper business and financial collaboration between the two regions. Mr. Jacques Bortuzzo, Vice President of the China-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce, first invited everyone to take a seat after the aperitif among our distinguished guests.

Ms. Zhujun Xie, President of the China-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce, warmly welcomed everyone’s arrival. She emphasized the importance of coming together to celebrate this special moment, encouraging the attendees to embrace the spirit of the New Year while reflecting on the achievements of 2024. She also extended her sincere gratitude to the partners, members, government officials, and the members of the Executive Board, Advisory Board, and Steering Committee of ChinaLux for their support and presence.

H.E. Mr. Gilles Roth, Minister of Finance of Luxembourg, welcomed the Year of the Snake, acknowledging China’s remarkable contributions to the global community and its vision for the future. He expressed gratitude for the dedication and hard work that have strengthened the partnership between China and Luxembourg, particularly in the financial sector. Highlighting Luxembourg’s role as a key financial hub in Europe for Chinese institutions, he noted the presence of seven major Chinese banks as a testament to their shared commitment to economic growth. In an increasingly volatile world, he emphasized Luxembourg’s stability as a foundation for continued collaboration and investment. Looking ahead, he reaffirmed the shared vision of both nations in fostering strong financial ties and navigating global challenges together.

H.E. Mr. Ning Hua, Chinese Ambassador to Luxembourg, highlighted the significance of the Lunar New Year as a moment to reflect on the evolving global and economic landscape. He emphasized China’s commitment to adapting its economic policies, focusing on digitalization, green transformation, and clean energy, with particular advancements in the electric vehicle industry. Addressing global economic challenges, he pointed to innovative solutions such as deploying robots in Xinjiang’s cotton production and fruit harvesting. Concluding, he called for strengthened partnerships to navigate differences and foster mutual growth in an ever-changing world.

H.E. Mr. Xavier Bettel, Deputy Prime Minister of Luxembourg, emphasized the strong and longstanding friendship between Luxembourg and China, highlighting the success of Cargolux as a symbol of their cooperation. He acknowledged the challenges of building trusted relationships but underscored the importance of open communication, mutual respect, and learning from history. Luxembourg, as a financial center, remains committed to fostering economic partnership. Concluding on a hopeful note, he wished for a year of growth and prosperity, encouraging both nations to listen, respect differences, and work together.

The CHINALUX award-winning ceremony was a celebration of excellence and collaboration, recognizing the valuable contributions of more than 150 members. A special highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Bronze Award to Elos Investment, honored by Ms. Zhujun Xie and Mr. Tom Théobald, CEO of Luxembourg for Finance for their outstanding achievements. Ambassador H.E. Mr. Ning Hua presented a Silver Award for Bank of China, while Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Mr. Xavier Bettel presented the Gold Award to Banque Internationale à Luxembourg (BIL) for their contributions. The event served as a testament to the strong partnerships and shared success within the CHINALUX community. With gratitude and appreciation, the evening marked another milestone in fostering closer ties between China and Luxembourg.
